Initial Psychological Assessment: £110, 60 minutes
Therapy can be difficult and emotionally challenging work, and a key part of therapy being successful is the relationship between the client and therapist. The initial assessment session is a chance for us to see if working together would be beneficial, to establish what your current difficulties are and to identify your goals for therapy. During the assessment session, we will explore areas such as your psychological history, significant relationships, physical health, coping strategies and any concerns about your personal safety. I may also ask you to complete questionnaire measures and complete a risk assessment to ensure you are able to keep yourself safe while engaging in therapy. From this assessment, you can see how I work and whether you feel I am someone you would like to work with. At the end of the assessment session, I can share with you an initial ‘formulation’ or understanding of your difficulties and how we could work together in therapy to resolve these. Formulations are always tentative and are updated and tweaked as therapy continues and as our understanding of your difficulties develops.
If after the initial assessment I do not feel my skills best suit your needs, I can offer further advice and signposting to alternative providers.
Ongoing Therapy session: £110, 60 minutes
These sessions are usually offered weekly at the same time and day each week. Depending on your therapeutic goals, you may wish to set a fixed number of sessions or have a more open-ended agreement. I regularly review therapeutic progress with my clients to check that we are working towards their therapeutic goals.
